When a loved one is in the hospital, hospice, or a nursing home, paperwork rarely waits. Powers of attorney, advance directives, wills, and medical consent forms often need a notary’s signature right then and there — but the patient can’t exactly hop in a car. That’s where we come in. Always Open Notary travels to bedsides across the Denver metro, so your family can take care of the paperwork without leaving the room.
What a bedside notary visit looks like
It’s simpler than you might think. You call or book online, tell us the facility and room number, and we come to you. We’ll verify ID, witness the signature, and complete the notarization on the spot — usually in about 15–20 minutes. We’ve been to hospitals, hospice houses, skilled nursing facilities, rehab centers, and assisted living communities across Denver, Aurora, Lakewood, Boulder, Fort Collins, and Colorado Springs.
One thing to plan for: facilities often have check-in procedures and visiting hours, so tell us ahead of time if there’s anything we need to know about getting to the patient’s room. We’ll handle it from there.
What you’ll need ready
A little preparation goes a long way. Here’s the short checklist:
- The document — printed and ready, unsigned. Signatures happen in front of us, so don’t sign ahead of time.
- A valid photo ID for the signer — a driver’s license, state ID, or passport works.
- Any witnesses the document requires — some documents (like wills) need witnesses in addition to the notary. We can often serve as one witness, but check your document’s requirements first.
- A signer who is alert and willing — this is the most important one. By law, the person signing must be coherent and signing voluntarily. If your loved one is heavily sedated or unable to communicate, we can’t proceed — but we can talk through options and reschedule if needed. When in doubt, call us first and we’ll help you figure it out.
Timing matters — and so do we
Medical situations are often urgent. We offer same-day and emergency bedside appointments when availability allows, and our mobile visits can be arranged outside regular office hours — including evenings and weekends. If an in-person visit isn’t possible, we also offer online notarization through our secure online platform. Call or text us at 303-598-2203 and we’ll tell you honestly what we can do.
Navigating paperwork during a difficult time is stressful enough. Let us take the notary piece off your plate, so you can focus on what matters most: being there for your family.
